Apple MobileFail

Now everyone knows and its clear that Apple’s MobileMe ( www.me.com ) is a fail .  Since the release of MobileMe there were many issues . Even Steve Jobs has admitted that MobileMe was not upto the Apple’s Standard in a mail sent to Apple employees. In its initial days i wanted to have look at what MobileMe actually has so i signed up keeping my Credit Card at risk. Well there is a free trial period to use MobileMe services but at cost of keeping your credit card number to Apple’s Database. Most of the time after i signed up for MobileMe services the site was down or was too slow even with my 2Mbps connection speed. I dont understand how will MobileMe work with slower connections ( say dial up ) . And what about the credit card number ? What if i just forget to use MobileMe and forget to delete my account before the trial period is over. I will be charged 100 dollars just as a punishment of forgetting to use MobileMe ? . I suppose they must be sending me the reminder mail before they charge , what if i dont check emails while i happen to be in vacation . So my next visit to www.me.com would be to delete my Account :-) .

I dont understand why apple wanted the credit card number just for that trial too. It may be for the reason that one user wont be able to open multiple accounts ( if he wishes to use one credit card or has only one ) . Since the first 2-3 days of signing up ,i didn’t visit the www.me.com .  I dont want to sync my computer over the air nor i want to use myname@me.com email ID. I just wanted to have some experience with MobileMe. But yesterday i was in my friend’s laptop with Windows Vista . I tried loging in to MobileMe . To my surprise what i see is MobileMe says that IE7 is not fully supported because it ha known issue with web 2.0 blah blah  . This is my first time i have seen such a warning from any site while surfing with IE7. Internet Explorer 7 is the default Vista browser and the latest one . Is Apple trying to discourage the use of IE7 or IE7 doesn’t really support some of the Web 2.0 features that MobileMe uses ? . If you build a web application its obvious to test with latest possible popular browser but what is that message MobileMe is showing me for IE7. IE7 is being used the most after Mozilla Firefox . Is this fact not known to Apple . Or are they just intend to have customer who use Apple Mac and not window ?

I haven’t used MobileMe much since i created my account and i haven’t revealed and used the mobile me email ID. But i dont understand how my inbox is having some 10-15 messages . Is apple spamming my mailbox or distributing my email ID.

I need to hurry up and delete my account . Its not 100 dollar worth . Yahoo has email service with unlimited storage. For photos i can use Flickr and since i dont have iPhone i dont really need to synch my phone ( Sony Ericsson P990i ) through MobileMe

Hey I caught your blog and you mentioned credit cards, which kind of lit a lightbulb and rang bellsin my head. Man, I’ve been in the credit card services web site business for awhile. I basically provide a free service to my users indexing all the credit card offers as I can on behalf of the banks and credit card companies. I ran across some 20somethings in a cafe the other day and just like them, I bet others among your readers would benefit from my site, ApplyForCards, which I’ve been working and been perfecting for quite awhile. So those 20somethings in the cafe didn’t know you could apply for a credit card online and had thought you could only do it via mail or at a bank or just be mailed the application for getting on “a magic list”. I stoicly (and with a straight face) informed them that this wasn’t the only case and referred them to my site with my business card. The is URL attached to my comment for my site. I hate to make this comment about me, but I love your blog post and I know others will too. I’ve had a site up for awhile and host many credit card offers, from Discover and Visa to AmEx. So, if anyone wants to order a new credit card that’s lost as for how to do it and have a steady income and would like to check and see if they qualify or know they do, please do. Enjoy! Love the blog, keep it up!
