Every now and then i need to resize windows in Mac because of the simple reason that windows in Mac dont fit to fill the entire screen also they dont have maximize button which acts in a similar way to the maximize button in Windows OS. I really dont like the Mac’s approach of maximizing any window . Macs have a green button as a comparable control to Maximize button in Windows OS. This button has different behaviors - sometimes it increases the window size so as to fit the content ( Preview, Finder etc ) and sometimes it fills the entire screen ( Text Edit ). Thats why i generally pull the window to the size i want.

As i already wrote that its impossible to close open Mac windows from their minimized state . Its actually a major drawback i see in Mac as compared to Windows. In this post i am again concerned about closing of window but in its maximised or open state. Well an open windows can of course be closed in Mac by clicking the top left Red button . There are three buttons at the top left side of Mac open windows Red is for close Yellow for minimize and Green for maximize ( precisely speaking fit to appropriate size ) .

But the problem i see here as compared to Windows is regarding reaching the small red close button of Mac windows. Any open window in Mac doesn’t take the whole screen area by default .

For some unknown reason i cant see Thesaurus and Dictionary tabs in Mac leopard’s inbuilt Dictionary App.  Somehow i dont have the libraries for them . And i am searching for a good English to English third party Dictionary program ( Application in Mac language ) in the Internet . I am not able to find just one. What the heck. Do people using mac have just one taste of dictionary or are they too much satisfied with Apple’s inbuilt Dictionary app in Mac Leopard . And yes Dictionary application in Leopard doesn’t have Pronunciation with Sound right ?  How can you Apple Mac users be satisfied with this inbuilt dictionary app with no pronunciation sound feature . May be Apple Mac is made for English speaking countries and assuming nobody needs sound pronunciation .Damn its not easy to switch to Mac from Windows and there is no need to switch may be ;-)

This is one of the thing which bugs me in Apple Mac OS X . In windows i do closing of programs directly from the windows task bar at the bottom . When windows are grouped I even can close all the window groups at once from the right mouse click . There is no such feature in Mac OS X . Mac needs more than one click to do that close function for minimized program ( application ) window . And every minimized window needs individual treatment to close them . In Mac right clicking on the minimized application windows just shows one option to open that window . This single option is as good as maximize menu in windows right click on windows task bar. One of the several reason windows is better than Mac . :-)

There already is a problem with Mac with the window size . It seems that mac basically doesn’t let application go Full Screen ( hiding all menu bar and dock ) . For example i was trying go Full screen while editing in Microsoft word in Mac . Full screen doesn’t act like it does in Windows version of Microsoft word. It doesn’t really go full screen . It can be because of the Application limitation itself but there are other applications which work good with full screen in windows and the same dont even have full screen option available in “View” menu for Mac.
