One of the most important part in your screen in Windows is “System Tray” . This is located at the bottom right of the screen in windows. In Mac “System Tray” equivalent is in the Menu Bar at top right . The particular part is called as menu bar Extras by Apple Human Interface Guidelines
In windows when there are lots of items in the tray window automatically provides a clickable arrow button to expand the System Tray to display all the itmes and toggle. You can even customize which items to display in the Tray from “Task Bar and Menu properties” ( Right click on the Task bar > Properties > Customize ) . The System tray is useful in a way that it also show notification messages related to windows updates , program specific messages etc.

In windows we have Quick Launch bar too which is again expandable . There is no such equivalent thing in Mac at the menu bar.

But what wonders me in Apple Mac is that where is such feature of expandable System Tray ( in mac term Menu bar extras ) ?. Moreover, I kind of found Bug in Apple menu bar extras. When the Menu Bar extras is filled with lots of items and my screen resolution is set to small . Apple Mac doesn’t show the clickable arrow button like windows does for its System Tray . So in that case the items in the menu bar extras just disappear because there is no enought place to fit them . This is kind of weird in such a so called Good operation System. To clearly show what i mean i have posted a video below. Did you ever notice this ?
As far as notification messages are concerned in Mac similar to Windows System Tray notification messages , There is no inbuilt feature as such in Apple Mac. But , this can be displayed using third party Apps . Some applications for such purpose are Growl and OminGrowl . Growl is a notification system for Mac OS X: it allows applications that support Growl to send you notification .
OmniGrowl is more useful and it users Growl Basically. OmniGrowl aims to provide many practical notifications through Growl in a single application. OmniGrowl is also an expandable framework for sending Growl notifications for applications that do not natively support Growl.

In Windows, I think we use the menu bar to store shortcut to applications. But with my Mac, I usually delete all menu bar extras and store all applications to my application stack folder. Windows doesn’t have stack, at least for now

Wedy , In windows we have task bar similar to Menu bar in Mac. Windows task bar can contain any number of items because it has hide and show toggle button. But in mac the menu bar extras which u see at top right section of screen cant contain any number of items. and can we delete the items in menu bar extras ? like can we delete spotlight , date and time , volume and all . There are some other applications which can take space in menu bar extras in Mac ( those can be deleted though ). Menu bar extras item are not exactly the shortcuts to open the Applications .
